I studied law as a part-time student and as a not terribly academic chap, I often struggled to keep alert enough to do the hard slog required to gain a degree in law.
At the time, my next door neighbour, Darren, was also studying law and when we were both at home, we’d often have a break from our labours, over a coffee.
What quickly became apparent was that he seemed to have the stamina necessary to study for longer periods than I and when I asked how he managed this feat, he said that it was because he took time out – maybe just 30 minutes – to work out at the local gym.
What he found, and what I soon discovered, when I too started visiting the same gym – it seemed sensible to go together in one car – was that my improved physical prowess, translated in to mental strength too!
That was 15 years ago and, with the exception of only a few months here and there I have kept exercising.
Running your own business, aside from becoming a parent, is the most mentally challenging thing you are likely to do, so get and keep fit and it’ll keep you sane and profitable!
And, whilst I know that you use every hour of the day when running a business – particularly when you are first getting it off the ground – you HAVE to make time to fit exercise ion to your day: you’ll soon feel the benefits.
